MIS Stars

Our STARS values are an important part of life at Melville Intermediate School. Our STARS values are:

Strive for Excellence; Kia eke ki te taumata

Take Pride; Tu tangata

Accept Responsibility; Kia tika te mahi

Respect Everyone; Kia kaha ki te manaaki tangata

Show Integrity; Kia manawanui

Our students are expected to know what the values mean and show them in their behaviour. Students are recognised for demonstrating the STARS values in the way they act towards others. Each week one person from every class is chosen by the classroom teacher for displaying the MIS STARS values in every aspect of their school day, every day.

Individual students are awarded ‘positive’ slips to reinforce STARS behaviour. The slip is given to the student and put into a regular prize draw at the end of each term.

In addition, we have Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum STARS awards which the students work towards completing. Students are awarded STARS stickers for exceptional work or behaviour, and these are placed on their STARS awards. Students must have 25 STARS stickers to move to the next award.  When they have completed their STARS awards, students go into a draw twice a year for a tablet.
